I'm staring a new Utopia interactive dynasty for XCOM2. I'd like to make all characters Utopians so chime in if you'd like to play! I'll be re-making the guys from last dynasty to start. I believe everyone starts as a rookie so we'll probably have time to figure out classes and all that shit later.

If you want a background description, just type me up a paragraph and I'll throw it in for you.

I pulled together 6 soldiers so far, I can't believe this game doesn't come with height/weight sliders. Utopian immersion really decreases when we all look 6'0 185 lbs

Anyway, here we go (All armor will be purple while they are rookies and then I will change armor color according to their class)

If ya'll want any changes made to appearance just let me know and I'll see what I can do. Purple Armor is for Rookies and the color will change when you are assigned a role. I color armor by role so it is easier to keep track of troops!

Well I'm uploading a few vidyas now and I'll post in the mroing but I had a successful night and made it through the tutorial missions. My first crack at the second part of the tutorial, which was the first reel mission of sorts, l I got everyone killed :laughing: I went ahead and just restarted the mission since that was the only option if you can't get out of the tutorial, lol.

Anyway, my second crack at it we all made it out alive. I picked up another squadie from the tutorial and she was Irish by nationality, so I went ahead and made her bald and called her @Irishman. The first 3 Utopia recruits to get into the action were @Schauwn @Clintmartian and @Soonerfan09. We all made it back alive, but Soonerfan was gravely wounded and will be out of action for a full month. Probably for the best for him, as I'm sure the early going will be a bloodbath. Each of the Rooks received a promotion to squaddie status and a start in their new career path (at random, sorry it wouldn't let me pick)

Here we are returning from our successful (2nd try) mission to grab a diesel generator or whatever it is

Here is Irishman (Formerly Squaddie Kelly) who is a Ranger for our squad, wearing the all white RANGER ARMOR. Irishman has a fucking sword and the ability to smack people at close range, which is nice. Irishman will pick between scout and assault tech trees

@Schauwn is looking pretty in his pink specialist armor. He's unlocked a drone that can come help a stranded soldier by providing defensive cover or something? Haven't tried this ability yet, so it should be fun. Schauwn will pick between battle medic and combat hacker tech trees.

CMart in his red Grenadier Armor has a grenade launcher, which is pretty straight forward. He'll pick between demolitions expert and heavy gunner

The wounded @Soonerfan09 in his forest armor is our sniper and he has the squadsight ability, which is always good. He'll choose between sniper and gunslinger tech trees.

Here is the first vidya showing the cold open and the initial part of the tutorial. This has some backstory, so watch if ur interested otherwise you can skip this one. I lost two troops in the mission, but I think it is scripted? So that is to be expected? Oh well, they weren't Utopians.

Here is Vidya2 which covers some more of the backstory and introduces me to various areas of my command ship. The backstory for the next mission starts at about 4:50 but I view this as basically a second part of the tutorial since I have no ability to select troops or equipment, I have to go into battle with what I get.

Anyway, you can tell I haven't played an XCOM game in a while. I make some rookie mistakes and then get a little bad luck to go along with it and suddenly I'm down to 2 men vs 7 or some shit, lol. Don't stand next to explody things either




Vidya 3 is me re-doing the same mission. Ironically my "ambush" still goes to shit, but I remembered to actually use my grenades early this time and that goes really well.

Vidya 4 is just some of the backstory that picks up when I return from the 2nd half of the tutorial mission. I recorded it for anyone who is interested and then I played Barbie Dress Up with my new Squaddies to change their armor color to reflect their abilities. No missions in this one.

Well, you can submit a backstory and I was going to let you choose ur roles.... but I didn't realize the game just promotes them into whatever class it sees fit, so that diminishes the "interactive" portion :laughing:

There is still some choice to be had during promotions from here on out and I'll let people select which branch of the skill tree they want to pursue.

So for instance, @Irishman can choose between these skills for his next promotion (or he can just tell me to STFU and pick for him)

Ah, I thought you played through before.

I'm pretty sure that's the case based on a quick google search. Also, the internet says that that should be one of the first things you should build.

Whiskey Play Vidya 5!

We made it through this mission with only a single injury (to @Clintmartian). CMart provided some awesome smashing fire with his grenade launcher. A Reel improvement over last mission when he was a rookie with a mere assault rifle. @adchester proved very adept for a rookie and picked up at least one kill and did some more damage to aliens along the way as well. @Schauwn had a fairly quiet mission, but I did use him to destroy the Alien relay device in the end and he got the last kill of the mission on a sectoid. He also used his new DRONE to provide defensive protection for the MADMAN running around with a sword. Speaking of that MADMAN, @Irishman wanted to get some at all costs and he was just running around like a maniac slashing aliens in half with his sword. No regard for cover or his own safety, and yet he was never even injured! (See @15:00 and 19:45)

The Rookie @adchester received a promotion and he's in the sniper class now.

@Clintmartian is injured for 17 days but also received a promotion so if you'd like to be INTERACTIVE, you need to pick between the "Blast Padding" and "Shredder" perks

@Schauwn also received a promotion and I'll have him take the "Combat Protocol" perk as part of the hacker skill tree that he desired.

@Irishman received a promotion as well and he will need to choose between the "Phantom" and "Blademaster" perks. I personally think @Irishman wants to swing his sword, but I'll give him till the end of today to add input if he wants.

Lol, that's why I add the write ups too. I mean I could do like 4 vidyas per mission or something, but a single mission seems a logical breaking point even if they end up running long.

I'll also be going with SQUAD SIGHT for my next upgrade. Hopefully it's as useful as it was in the previous version.

You get squad sight automatically in this version.

Here is ur next choice: LONG WATCH or RETURN FIRE. Long Watch seems more useful for a squad sight type stereotypical long distance sniper build, but if you want to be a mobile marksman who comes with the team then RETURN FIRE would be cool

I'll actually let Travis choose. I know he used one of each kind of sniper in the previous version, so it just depends on how he wants to utilize me.

But I'm going to assume Long Watch is more valuable, especially in the early game when pistols suck (unless this part of the game has changed from Enemy Within).

We had a mission evacuating a VIP. It went really well, because @Reel showed up as a rookie and just kicked ass. I think reel had 4 kills or something? Plus we hit basically every single shot we took, even most of the 30-40% shots landed! I was super aggressive and was fortunate that it paid off because I got into a few positions that could have been tough if I hadn't wiped the enemy out with some luck. I usually try to move up the sides of the map in most missions so that I have only one flank to protect. In this case, moving straight up the center of the map worked really well because there was a road median and a bunch of planter boxes that provided full cover and half cover.

I was a bit disappointed in @adchester 's poor performance with his first mission having squad sight, but he did get a hit on a sectoid @22:45

@Schauwn failed his hacking attempt @18:00 and alerted the enemy to our presence, but he did a solid job as a trooper this mission, particularly @23:15 when he killed an alien sectoid in a dangerous position with a low percentage shot!

@Irishman had a somewhat quiet mission, but he did really help solve a dangerous position we got ourselves into when he eliminated a flanking defender @20:40 with a grenade. An alien tried to mind control Irish @22:05 but Irish's God-like mind prevailed and he was only left distracted instead of controlled! At 23:40 Irish moved forward and blasted a sectoid in the face with his shotgun from point blank range.

@Reel got a kill on his very first overwatch shot @14:50 by shooting a moving enemy through a glass window! Then at 16:00 he follows up by killing the 2nd alien with his frag grenade (Schauwn had weakened him with an overwatch shot). Reel also spent most of the mission covering the scientist. At 21:45 reel once again uses his ability to shoot through obstacles and gets his 3rd kill of the mission! LEAVE SOME ALIENS FOR THE OTHERS, REEL! Nah, B, Reel gets another kill at 24:10 by rushing up to finish off the sectoid that Irish blasted in the face!

Mission actually starts about 11:30


The Reward for this mission was the scientist I evacuated.
