Southpaw Gon' Look 2016 Bold Predictions thread

It's time for your 2016 bold predictions.
As a B1G honk I'll start there.

tOSU goes through the regular season at 11-1 loses to Oklahoma in a nailbiter and rolls the rest of the B1G and then makes it to the playoffs.

UM - stumbles this year and falls to 9-3 even with a very favorable schedule, no true QB threat emerges and they suffer with sub-par OLine and LB play.

Nebraska rolls through the west and finishes 10-2.

other conferences:
PAC12 is won by RR at Arizona
SEC west- LSU finds a QB that is comptent and wins the west. Alabalamba on the outside looking in with 2 losses.

SEC east - heavy favorite UT can't get it done, and UGA with a real coaches finally cashes in on all that talent.

I'll get a Lute Olson is thy GAWD tattoo on my back shoulder if Arizona wins the Pac-12.

Washington
at UCLA
at Utah
USC

first four conference games. Hell, they'd go crazy if they go 2-2 there.

BYU defeats Utah (given that Utah's expected to be good and currently owns BYU :( and that BYU is breaking in a new coaching staff and style of play on both sides of the ball, I think this is pretty bold).

Utah generally loses a game they have no business losing. This season it will be Arizona State.

Houston and Boise State will both flirt with undefeated seasons, but lose a conference game late in the season.

Virginia finally beats Virginia Tech.

  • Iowa goes 9-3, makes the Big Ten title game but loses. Kirk Ferentz gets an extension to 2030 as a result, resulting in 14 years of below .500 football before they finally can him.
  • Tennessee goes 8-4, but their losses are by a combined ~10 points, so everybody thinks 2017 will actually be their year
  • Tommy Armstrong throws 20 picks and punches Mike Riley in the face for making him throw in a west coast offense 35 times a game
  • Ohio State struggles and goes 8-4, but makes the playoff in 2017 (I suppose this isn't all that bold)
  • Texas fires Charlie Strong after the Red River Shootout after falling to 2-3
  • Stanford misses out on the playoff after David Shaw punts on 4th and 2 from his opponent's 35.

A-1 From Day 1
Minnesota either wins the B1G West OR loses two noncon games and finishes 3-9. Though the latter isn't that bold.

the last 4 times OU started out in the preseason top 5 they finished 15th or lower so predicting them in the playoff this year and/or with fewer than two losses is bold

ohio state is the only undefeated team going into the playoff and dui guy wins heisman
neither clemson nor oklahoma win their conferences, much less make the playoff
usc goes 6-6 and twitter corch is fired; next corch hired via snapchat donor campaign
shitty committee lets blue blood 2 loss non-conference champ program in playoff over 1 loss bcs conference champ; media agrees vehemently like it's common sense
leonard fournette tears acl or some other horrible injury; les miles fired before bowl game
boise state runs the table but barely cracks top 10 of playoff committee rankings
i break my tv trying to punch heather dinich through the screen for slurping committee
@kella remembers he has a remote control and doesn't have to watch any commercials since there are 100 games on at a time
washington and tennessee don't make their conference championship games (apparently this is bold?)

FALK throws for 6,001 yards and Brick kills hisself after he wins the Heisman
Colorado drops 100 on CSU and I tell Travis to suck it

  • UCF becomes East Oregon, and Scott Frost finishes with a 10-2 record his first year while winning the AAC.
  • Georgia Tech shuts out Boston College week one in Ireland, prompting them to have an Ireland campus.
  • Rutgers, led by the GAWD Chris Ash, finish 9-3 in his first year with a Big Ten title appearance and loss to champion Harbaugh 78-2.
  • Barry Sanders Jr. and Oklahoma State start the season 9-0, before getting upset by Texas Tech in double OT.
  • Nobody from the C-USA has a winning record, the conference folds and all teams go to FCS.
  • PJ Fleck and Western Michigan dominate the MAC, go undefeated, win the conference, and finish the season with a #6 ranking.
  • Colorado State fails to win a single game, and @bruin228 pisses in @Travis7401 bushes.
  • Mike Leach punches Chris Petersen in the face after the Huskies beat him 55-24.
  • Auburn, and Last Chance U star John Franklin win the SEC.
  • Everybody from the Sun Belt has to forfeit their seasons after Donald Trump gives a player a free hat.
  • Notre Dame finishes the season 3-9, and Brian Kelly takes over the Dallas Cowboys.

 Extended through 2025, $4.5M per year. 8th highest paid coach in the country. http://www.csnchicago.com/big-ten/hawkeyes-kirk-ferentz-gets-contract-extension-through-2025-season

So glad I'm not an Iowa fan right now, holy shit. I mean, if they got a reduced buyout for this, then fine. But it's not like people are knocking down Ferentz's door to hire him away. 8th highest paid coach in the country? He's had 9 seasons of 7 or fewer wins

And it will get extended again when he catches lightning in a bottle, wins 10 games and finds hisself in the B1G Championship because the B1G West is awful.

But I mean it's Iowa. 5 stars aren't walking through that door. The gold standard there is Hayden Frye and Ferentz has already equaled him at this point. His winning % is a little behind Frye's, but part of the problem with college football today is that everybody thinks they should win 10 games every year like its a birthright. I think Ferentz is a bit overrated, but I mean damn, what more could Iowa want? Someone like Tom Herman who would stay for about 2 years and then jump to tOSU?

I think they could be a consistent 8+ win team like a Wisconsin, or hell, Nebraska. Ferentz has been there 17 years and has had only 8 seasons where he's won 8 or more games. And his football is just so damn boring. There is nothing fun about watching an Iowa game. Mike DeBord calls a more aggressive game than Greg Davis.

But, I do think it's a fair point. I would just be depressed as an Iowa fan.

Don't even get me started on Mike DeBord. I thought Butch was just giving him a jerb out of loyalty, but he really is letting him control the offense. It is stunning. Dobbs is at best a streaky passer, but mostly pretty bad. His running is far and away his best attribute and he passes better when he runs. DeBord ties him to the pocket and they almost lost to App St.
