The Kansas Jayhawks finished the 2013-14 season strong, ending with five straight wins to hand the program its fourth ever double digit win season and first since 2007's 12 win campaign. The final five wins of the season included two upsets over top 10 teams on the road: a 44-42 victory over Oklahoma State and a 41-14 victory over rival Kansas State, the Jayhawks first victory in the series since 2008. The Jayhawks leaned on their high powered Air Raid offense all year long, as they put up 42.6 points per game, fourth in the country, and 558.9 yards per game, second in the country. Quarterback and Davey O'Brien Award winner Peyton Bender threw for 5,381 yards and 47 touchdowns with the help of a deep receiving corps, as Biletnikoff Award Winner Daylon Charlot caught a school record 123 passes for a school record 1,621 yards alongside 13 touchdowns and Steven Sims Jr. also went over the 1,000 yard mark, catching 92 balls for 1,235 yards and 7 touchdowns; in addition to Charlot and Sims Jr., Bobby Hartzog Jr. and Tyler Patrick combined for 146 receptions for 1,705 yards and 11 touchdowns. While Kansas had a prolific passing game, the rushing attack was no slouch either, as Taylor Martin rushed for 1,153 yards and 13 touchdowns and Octavius Matthews contributed 549 yards and 8 touchdowns. The defense was a liability most of the year, thanks to lack of talent and crushing injuries in the secondary, but fielded a stout run defense and was excellent at forcing turnovers with 24 takeaways. The Jayhawks were also phenomenal in the bend, don't break department; though the defense often surrendered large chunks of yardage, the unit finished t-3rd in red zone defense.

The 2014-15 season looks very promising for the Jayhawks, as every major contributor, with the exception of Hartzog Jr., and four of five lineman return on offense, and 10 of 11 starters return on defense. The incoming recruiting class, ranked best in the conference and in the top 15, also promises to increase the talent level in Lawrence and help the Jayhawks improve on their 10 win mark and attain the program's first conference title in nearly half a century.
