Would that class be seniors or 5th years now?

Only having 6 with the program for more than 2 years is pretty brutal. If you have a couple of classes like that, that can tank a program for a while. Michigan had to climb out of a huge hole because they had classes with similar numbers of washouts recently. Both under DickRod and Hoke.

It's been pretty rough. Right now there is only 70 scholarship players and three scholarship QB's for spring ball. Chip has said he always wants 5 on scholarship. I was hoping he'd be able to bring in a grad transfer this winter, but it didn't work it. He's basically cleaned house. I think something like 30+ players have left the program since he was hired.

Also, the recruiting tactic has been switched drastically. Tons more offers and the staff is getting out there. Maybe he didn't like the way the media was bashing him. Who knows. He deff is a different type of dude. A bowl bid would be a success imo this year.
you need 5 scholarship qbs. you gotta have a justin roper or cody kempt so when dennis dixon, nate costa, and brady leaf go down to injury you can run wildcant with andre crenshaw (PWNSHAW @doh)in the rose bowl and not score a td with brick in attendance.

I’m sure I was wearing da classic fUSC powder blue tee.

Those were glory days of Nutopia.

I’d post full on game reports each Sunday morning. I believed in Dorrell.

That was the year they did Dump Dorrell and I got so hammered at the ASU game. I posted that I was gonna take a break from drinking and @digs said no one likes quitters.

This is what has been happening at SC the past couple of years. Classes that initially look good don't pan out and lots of players that appeared promising wind up leaving. SC in for another bleak year in 2019, I think. They might be marginally better than their 5-7 mark in 2018, but 7-5 is about their ceiling, I think.

Stanford-Oregon from 09 on P12 net right now. I got the lotion and kleenex out for Gerhart and Luck running shit and Marecic playing both FB and LB. True frosh version of LaMichael James also in this game

That's the stupidest thing I have heard in awhile. Hey lets play half our games on the other side of the country!

Yuck.

I always liked how USC (and also, until recently, Juicy, Notre Dame, and even Washington, I think) had the distinction of never having played an opponent who wasn't Div I-A. Sure, back in the day we've played Occidental and Pomona and other opponents who in some cases aren't even in the NCAA anymore, but since they split the college level into Div I-A and I-AA, all USC opponents were I-A.

However, the SEC with their smart scheduling (having some FCS softie in late October or early November before their stretch of really tough games) makes a lot of sense.

Still not a fan of it, though. Who knows - maybe UC Davis will get promoted to FBS prior to the game.

9am games?

Why not? If we're playing Pee-Wee level footbaw, might as well have their schedule too! Just be sure we have enough string cheeses, juice boxes, granola bars and potato chips for all the kids.

Businesses in the towns will love it. Hit Santa Monica or downtown Pasadena after a clash against Oregon State at the Rose Bowl. Cubans included @Bmack

Or micro brews for the Northwest folk.
Give me 9 AM sat morning games than 7 o’clock Friday night games any day of the week

i'd buy oregon winning 10 games if they didn't ditch corch pepsi at DC, arroyo wasn't hot garbage, and they had an above decent group of skill players.

i feel sorry for herbert.

Corso has really lost it's picking Utah to make it to the national championship. They will lose at least 2 games plus the PAC 12 title game.

Jack Sears has entered the transfer portal.

Many SC people believe he's more talented and a better leader than Daniels. But, politics and SC giving into the system has made Daniels be the guy.

Jack Sears has entered the transfer portal.

Many SC people believe he's more talented and a better leader than Daniels. But, politics and SC giving into the system has made Daniels be the guy.

Eh, many SC people are grasping at straws, hoping that any new face will salvage the wreckage that was last season's disaster. Witness the shameful desperation in pursuing KLiff Kingsbury, and the renewed hope that Graham Harrell will somehow transform a broken culture that stems from the head coach.

Sears had one okay game (which we still lost, BTW), and yes, he did look like a leader, far more so than the timid-looking JT Daniels, but all reports I've been reading about the practice sessions say that JT is tearing it up under GH's simplified system, and that Sears had fallen behind in that regard.

However, the initial depth chart had Sears at #4. That's basically the coaches saying "hey kid, it's not gonna work out for you here, so go transfer and good luck to ya." The depth chart was:

#1 JT Daniels (soph.)
#2 Kedon Slovis (true frosh)
#3 Matt Fink (redshirt junior - who also was going to enter the transfer portal)
#4 Jack Sears (redshirt junior)

The coaches are apparently high on Slovis, and keeping Daniels behind center made sense in that he did enough to keep the position, and no one else did enough to decisively beat him out. Plus, the addition of Bru McCoy, a former Mater Dei teammate who initially was going to go be a Longhorn, helps an already stacked WR corps.

Then, next year, the Mater Dei pipeline keeps pouring out its riches when QB Bryce Young is expected to sign with the Trojans.

Truthfully, I'd have been happier if Sears stayed, but I do think that production-wise, he would have been not any better than Daniels. He'd just look more engaged while berating his teammates on the sideline for not making a first down, instead of Daniels looking like the glum stunt double in a Van Nuys porn production.

Just by having a center who can consistently snap the ball will make Daniels a whole lot better. Last year's center, Toa Lobendahn, has thankfully graduated. His inability to snap the ball properly single-handedly lost the Cal game, and almost certainly contributed to at least two more losses.
