Penn State!

I'm especially interested to see how the secondary looks. It was a clear weakness last year, and now they brought in roughly 942 defensive backs in this year's class.

Really like the hire. Closed out the class strong. Mostly sizzle right now. Need to see the product on the field. But I'm excited.

Should be a top 10-15 class this year. This is the best crop of PA recruits in a long time.

If Franklin has shown anything it's that he can sell himself/the program to everyone, and recruit like a madman. Looking forward to seeing how his actual coaching is.

What are expectations with 2 years left on the sanctions? 6-7 wins? The GAWD Bill O'Brien lost to a pretty ehhhhh Ohio State team 63-14 last year. And lost to Indiana by 3 TD's. Looking at the schedule, Franklin should win 7 games next year.

That's five wins if they were only to beat the bolded...Figure they could easily get 3 more wins against the other 7, probably against NW, Maryland, and Indiana. Could certainly see 9-4. Depends on how much Hackenberg progresses and the linebackers hold up. Defense needs to be much better next season, that's for sure.

Two 4* guys. That LT Ryan Bates is from the best program in the Philly area, Archbishop Wood HS and the 3rd ranked player from PA. That's a big get.

Sounds like LB Jake Cooper will commit in the next week or 2. Not following super closely but Franklin has definitely brought a lot of energy to recruiting. A much needed change, considering a few years ago much of the staff didn't even recruit.

There wasn't much of an effort to even speak of. More along the lines of, kids want to come to PSU so they will, and maybe LJ and Vandy will bring in a few extras. Who even traveled on that offensive staff? Just McQueary? I know Hall didn't and I don't believe JayPa spent much time on the road either. Talk about a contrast to the current staff...

I danced in THON in 2009. A behind the scenes tip.. just about every girl who dances has constant diarrhea by hour 24 and is shitting themselves.

That RB is probably the biggest recruit since Hackenberg. Bishop McDevitt is an elite program that churns out D1 players yearly and the last commitment from that school was in 2001. JoePa lost out on Ricky Waters, LeSean McCoy and the list goes on..

And in other news, Pitt has canceled their spring game.

Company line is it allows them to maximize their Spring practices by not having a Spring game. Fact is, nobody goes to it, it's generally held at a high school stadium, and it basically just shows how little support they have for their program.

Yeah, fan support is awful haha. I went there last year, it was turrible

My very first game they lost to Youngstown State and I pretty much tuned out after that

I think the offense is going to be a lot exciting. O'Brien's No Huddle Pro Style worked pretty well during his 2 years there,I'm interested to see how Franklin's offense will work with this team

I'm a big O'Brien fan, I assume much more than most PSU fans since he left. Liked his offense, thought he did a great job with the QBs. Franklin seems to have the edge in recruiting over O'Brien, hopefully he can produce with his game day performance as well. I'm optimistic.

Cool, did you spend time in the Cathedral of Learning? I always wanted to see that. I had some phone interviews for positions at Pitt a some years back. I was hoping to get to in person interviews just to come see the area, and the cathedral in particular, but it never happened.

I did also. I mean he came during the Dark Dayz & went 9-4 & 7-5,which is not bad. Yeah his offense was tailor made for QB's & I had noticed some improvements with the starting QB. JFrank can recruit his ass off. I have a friend that attended Vandy games regularly & she said that she noticed the change of atmosphere when Franklin was there & the last coach before him was....HUGE difference. He was landing 4 star recruits left & right.

Yep, a lot of my classes were in there. I really like that building. The classrooms are awesome and you can get a great view of the city if you go up to the top floors.

My sister is a freshman at Pitt. Only thing good about Pitt is the Cathedral of Learning. I believe the top two floors aren't accessible, felt like a small campus. Lots of homeless lizards around Oakland doe.

The Cathedral is definitely a neat building. I spent quite a bit of time in Oakland visiting my brother, always seemed like a pretty neat place to go to school. I've always favored the more traditional campus like PSU has...hence why I went there.

Is there any nice town called Oakland in the USA?

The only homeless people I ever saw were on Forbes and there weren't that many.

Another 4* verbal, a 6'4 WR from NJ and the 2nd best player in Jersey. Wonder where this program would be right now with Al Golden.

If Franklin is half as good of an actual coach as he is a recruiter then things look quite bright in Happy Valley. His recruiting so far has been amazing.

Another 4* commit, and now the #1 class in the country.

Admittedly, there is no chance of remaining there, but it is still nice to see. I'd be thrilled with a top 10 class to finish up.

72K at the spring game and a corch who actually recruits. Penn State has been a sleeping giant for a long time. Wonder how different the program would have been if JoePa was fired back in the dark days like he should have been.

Oh snap. Franklin and other vandy corches had contact with the rape victim after the rape. Getting my popcorn ready.

Referring to records, the attorneys said the victim was contacted by Franklin and (director of player performance Dwight) Galt during a medical examination four days after the rape to explain "that they cared about her because she assisted them with recruiting."

It went on to say that at some point, "Coach Franklin called her in for a private meeting and told her he wanted her to get fifteen pretty girls together and form a team to assist with the recruiting even though he knew it was against the rules. He added that all the other colleges did it."

All Penn State knows is...

So Franklin obviously lied to the PSU AD because no way they would have hired him had they known this could come out. Surely. Or do I give them too much credit? Either way this is gonna be good. I want Franklin to tell me more about building men of integrity.

I'm sure Penn State went over everything with Franklin, the Vanderbilt AD/President and definitely with 3rd parties who checked this out. Franklin surely has questions to answer, but that's a pretty poorly written Tennessean article. Did a shitty SB nation blogger write that? Need more info on the timing.

Penn State has nothing to do with that statue. That's on the Joe truthers putting it in front of their restaurant, not on campus.

Should stick away with reading ESPN articles. Penn State has nothing to do with it. Some donor is raising $300K to build some statute of Paterno sitting on a bench eating ice cream on College Ave downtown. To fuck with the Paterno trogs I asked if he was going to be 'looking the other way' and people came out of the woodwork with death threats.
