The 2020 perpetual OFFSEASON THREAD

This is why CFB is going to be such a trainwreck man. You can't make people wear masks DURING PRACTICE lol. The only way sports can work right now is a bubble. A college campus is the exact opposite of a bubble.

Yep. If they go through with this season the sham is finished. They're either "student athletes" going to class like everyone else on campus or they're employees you are keeping in a bubble to prepare for Saturday. Isolating the teams in a hotel and saying they can just do their classwork online while everyone else is forced to attend class in some 1950's building named after a former Klansman is going to blow it all up. Same if everyone else gets sent home and the players are kept in dorms on campus.

Lose/Lose for amateurism.

This is legit hilarious. Like 99% of the reason we built the fucking stadium was so we could get HOME GAMES VS CU instead of the Invesco/CU rotation some moron AD agreed to (ie CSU home games were at Invesco). So we build the fucking stadium, and then CU backs out of all future games, only maintaining the commitment to a single CSU home game for THE ShOWDOWN. IF YOU BUILD BIG BOY STADIUM, CSU WILL BE A BIG BOY!

Then the PAC 12 cancels OOC games due to pandemic the one year CSU (for all future time) will ever host CU!

I simply cannot get more erect.

If the season happens, BYU and Navy will play the night of Labor Day. With a scheduled 6 p.m. MDT kickoff, it will be the first true night game at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium since 2005. The Midshipmen will return the game at LaVell Edwards Stadium on a yet-to-be-determined later date. This replaces the game BYU lost with Utah and Navy lost with Notre Dame.

Sources: MAC Cancels Fall College Football Season

The Mid-American Conference has canceled its football season this fall because of player health and safety concerns regarding COVID-19, sources told Stadium.

The 12-member MAC is the first Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) conference opting not to play this fall. On Wednesday, UConn, an independent, became the first FBS school to announce it would not play this year. The MAC intends to try to play in the spring, sources said.
The MAC reached its decision Saturday morning in a vote by the league’s presidents, sources said. The conference presidents initially met Thursday to finalize the league’s scheduling format. However, Northern Illinois president Lisa Freeman, a former research scientist at the University of Rochester School of Medicine, indicated her school would not play this fall because of the health and safety concerns, sources said.
“The league didn’t like the look of NIU going out on their own and not playing,” said a source, explaining the MAC’s non-vote on Thursday.
The Huskies have made a league-record eight MAC title game appearances and won four of the last nine MAC titles. After the league didn’t reach a decision Thursday, it voted Saturday not to play this fall, sources said.

Besides the health and safety concerns, the MAC was one of the leagues most impacted financially by the Power Five’s decision to eliminate or reduce non-conference games. The MAC had 11 games canceled against Big Ten members, costing MAC schools a combined $10.5 million. Bowling Green State lost $2.2 million, Central Michigan lost $2.15 million, Kent State lost $1.5 million and NIU lost $1.1 million.

Wisconsin is not getting rid of football lol

Madison sucks tho

Wisconsin will be $100 million in the hole with no season. Tough to have teams without money. Cal has massive debt service to pay on their shifty stadium and Akron is just a wholesale dumpster fire
