2021: Week 13 Thread - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road

clown thinks it's really important thay the CIVIL WAR naming rights are sold out to a corporate sponsor. you're fucking kidding.

Sell the name of this rivalry game to a corporate partner.

Highest bidder wins.

Let the Ducks-Beavers game be called “The Chevron Classic,” or “The Ford Bowl” or “The Columbia Sportswear Series.” Dutch Bros. is a dynamic Oregon-based company. If CEO Joth Ricci sees the value I could foresee Mario Cristobal or Jonathan Smith holding up “The Dutch Bros. Cup” at the end of the game.

Will that be hot, iced or blended, coach?

Nike Bowl?

Precision Castparts Classic?

The State Championship Game presented by Intel?

Get right on it. Because this no-name stuff is a no-win thing.

Eh - they've messed up Rivalry weekend anyway when USC-UCLA isn't the last game of the season (or in the old days in even-numbered years when USC played Juicy and then Notre Dame in back-to-bacl weeks).

Not surprised at the result on Saturday, ma'Homes. If you'd been watching USC at all this season, you'd have seen this coming a mile away. The whole staff knew they were lame ducks once Helton was canned, and the players basically checked out, too. Record-wise, the 1991 team at 3-8 was the worst team in living memory, but that team was mostly unlucky and was actually close in a lot of their games, and also managed to beat a solid Penn State team that year. (Although they lost a laugher to Memphis State the following week).

This year's team is easily the worst SC team I've ever seen, even worse than the Hackett years because at least Hackett still was trying and still had talent on the squad. Outside of Drake London (currently injured) there's not a single player that would be a first day draft pick. Even in down years USC usually has at least two or three guys picked in rounds 1-4.

Thanks, Larry Scott!

Still amazes me the conference would schedule North/South division games the last week of the season leaving a chance for a repeat in the conference title game a week later like UCLA/Stanford in 2012. Scott said he’d abolish that, but still happening a decade later.

Not sure why they broke up Stanford/Cal and USC/UCLA into different divisions in the first place. Part of why the scheduling is so wonky is because the four California schools wanted to keep playing each other every season, instead of the format where you skip 2 of your opposite division opponents every year.

Had they put Colorado/Utah in the North division and had the 4 CA and 2 AZ schools - it would've avoided a lot of that nonsense.

But those fucking Thursday night (on the road in cold-ass SLC in November) and Friday night games are some serious fuxhit that I'm glad went away.

tells you what kinda complex middle thirder types have that it's not good enough for them to completely shit on their fiercest rival (in a top 3 nationwide rivalry) for a decade, they gotta do stupid meaningless crap like this anyway

guarantee you it would be the same kind of cringey garbage if the situation was reversed too. Most vocal Michigan fans are uneducated land whales who hunt out of necessity because .308 rounds are more affordable than steaks at the grocery store

Oh no, it would be way worse. Cringe but add a superiority complex.

Would beating the #10 and #8 teams in back-to-back weeks be enough to put Oklahoma State over Notre Dame? Or a 2-loss Alabama?
