The San Francisco Tanners moved to become the Halifax Maritimes to start the 2058 season. Although death threats continue to pour in, even from other GMs, the team has settled into their new life quite well. The players have responded to their new home with two very successful seasons thus far.
New Owner/GM Woo Lee took over the franchise in 2057. The franchise had won two Championships, 2053 and 2054, and was talented and ready for the 2057 season. The team finished 4[sup]th[/sup], and then rolled through the playoffs to the WS. The team played poorly in the World Series, spending most of their time in Dublin drinking and trawling the harbor taverns for whores. It seems Guinness and Jameson have ownership stakes in the Dublin Distillers, and they picked up the tab for any Halifax players. Well played Dublin. Although the franchise was popular and rooted in the WBL in San Francisco, its association with a show as dumb as Full House was too much to bear. Management considered just changing names and colors, but the stupidity of Saget and the stink of Stamos were too strong. It was not enough. A move was needed, and the sea was calling.
Woo Lee harkened back to his youth near the harbor town of New London, CT. His boyhood years on the New England coast had left an indelible impression, with its lighthouses, fishing ports, whaling ships, and yes, even submarine bases. Woo Lee recalled his childhood visits to the US Submarine Base in Groton, and he knew he needed to bring the team home. After scouring the rocky eastern coast for a suitable home, Halifax shone through like the oldest lighthouse in North America, which it has. What a time to be alive.
Halifax is an historical maritime community on the eastern seaboard of Canada, with a population of nearly 400,000. It was, and is, the major Canadian port and economic center on the eastern seaboard. It’s history is steeped in maritime culture with lighthouses, maritime museums, and a large shipyard. It is also full of cod eaters. What it lacked was a baseball team and a world class art collection. Woo Lee gave them both in 2058.
