Leaves rolling with Murray and Samsonov in net.

Oilers need to sign their offers and Kulak. LD market isn't great. Would like to see them trade Barrie for a more physical RD and get another forward.

Oilers signed Kulak! He's not elite, obviously, but he's a solid, well-rounded guy who can anchor the 2nd defensive pairing.

Edmonton actually having a decent offseason.

Philadelphia Flyers: F
The Flyers didn’t merely miss out Gaudreau, the local superstar and top free agent on the market who long had been rumored to have Philadelphia as his top choice. They weren’t even realistically in the mix due to Chuck Fletcher’s inability to adequately prepare from a cap-space standpoint or clear out a contract or two. So what did Fletcher do? He brought back Justin Braun to be a cheap third-pair defenseman and signed a 31-year-old enforcer in Nicolas Deslauriers to a four-year contract. Braun isn’t an upgrade since he already was in Philadelphia for most of the 2021-22 season, and Deslauriers is an intangibles add to a team that already has Rasmus Ristolainen and Zack MacEwen for essentially the same purpose. The Flyers had the fourth-worst record in hockey last season, and unless their big swing on Tony DeAngelo bears fruit and doesn’t blow up in their face, it’s unclear if they’re actually any better than they were in 2021-22. Yikes. — Charlie O’Connor

ESPN+ has classic games in their inventory so last night I watched Game 1 of the 83 WCF. Oilers ran roughshod over Chicago. Could really see the beginnings of the modern game, especially in the way Edmonton played. Kurri - Gretzky - Anderson was a fucking line.

It was also really jarring to see boards with no ads, shorter glass with no net, guys without helmets, faceoffs taken anywhere on the ice, how small the pads were. It was a slower game than today, but not a gigantic difference. Some of those guys could move.

I see the 1975 Cup Clincher for the BUMS on the list!

Don't see how that makes sense for Calgary. Yes, they had to move Tkachuk, but Huberdeau and Weegar will both be UFAs next year and they keep Calgary good enough to be out of the high lottery. Extremely risky unless they can somehow deal them for high draft picks or, even more miraculously, both decide to stay. (Looking at Ken Holland)

Meanwhile, Florida just added a 100-point player in his early prime years for his playing style, but who also has a problem with disappearing in the playoffs, so...
