With the release of the full English leagues, down to level 10, I thought I'd start my annual run of taking someone at/near the bottom and seeing how far I can get them before I get fired, or tired.
This year I decided to start with the...Jersey Bulls. This little team is located in Jersey (duh) in the channel islands (@hayvis).
As you can see, we've managed success since day 1. As an amateur club, we were able to win the league our first year and immediately turn semi-pro. We predominately played a control-possession 433, while on the smallest "pitch" possible. This season, we've switched to a 343, still playing with a control-possession mentality. After struggling our first few games up, we've found our stride and are currently in first place. Only 1 team is promoted from this level, so it's imperative that we keep our first place position if we want to go 2 for 2 in promotion chances.
Godalming was the other team promoted with us last season and we've been the two best teams in the league all year. Fortunately, just like in the league below, we're a bit better than Godalming and we were able to beat them 3-1 last game.
We still have what feels like a hundred games left in the league:
As for the board and myself...the board are of course happy with the direction the club is heading after gaining a promotion the first year and sitting currently in first place:
Club Culture is kind of a joke...we played a controlled-possession, positive/attacking/very-attacking mentality all year to win promotion, AND THEN they came up with the OPPOSITE as the club culture. LOL GJGE.
Finances are going well, as I'm able to keep payroll just above 60k and we have a budget for almost 170k. Plus, we a made a decent (for us) run through the FA cup and got a couple pay days with that:
I'll have an update as I finish the season, hopefully in first place.
