Oshie re-signs with Washington on an 8/46 deal. $5.75 million per year cap hit. Oshie is now the 12th player on the Capitals under contract for 2017-18.

The Washington Capitals go deep on T.J. Oshie, who was set to be the most valuable forward on this summer’s unrestricted free agent market.

Eight years and $46 million, for a cap hit of $5.75 million.

“T.J. is an invaluable member of our team and we felt it was imperative for us to re-sign him in a competitive free agent market,” GM Brian MacLellan says.

“T.J. is a highly competitive player with a tremendous skill set. He epitomizes the kind of player our team must have in order for us to continue to put ourselves in a position to compete in this league.”

Cap space down to $19.05 million. Kutznetzsov, Alzner, Connolly, Grubauer and Burakovsky better sign on the cheap. Cap space is quickly becoming a problem.

You were under the impression they were bringing Alzner back? I now understand why you think this is a bigger problem.

It's not like they have someone waiting in the minors to take Alzner's place.

They still need to squeeze 11 players into $19 million worth of cap space.

Dave Andreychuk, really? That seems like a stretch.

This. Anyway, while I was in the dark ages dealing with my parents' 12-year old DSL modem and unable to check in here, I had the same discussion with my Dad, but I was unable to register my disgust on the Internet along with you'll. Sports Halls of Fame are pretty much a joke anyway (Pete Rose, ahem). Dave Andreychuk...I guess. I guess if Eric Lindros is in then the bar is low enough. I'll say this, Recchi and Andreychuk >>> 88.

Since Dave Adnreychuk is in, I look forward to Theoren Fleury's induction speech.

Now that I'm diving down a rabbit hole... Dino Ciccarelli is in the HoF? Let's make room for Rod Brindamour & Ray Whitney while we're at it.

Dino Ciccarelli career highlight: http://www.upi.com/Archives/1987/12...Minnesota-North-Stars-has-been/8563505692330/

The complaint was filed Monday in Hennepin County District Court, accusing the 27-year-old right wing of exposing himself three times in the past two months to a neighbor woman and her son.

The alleged incidents took place near his home in Eden Prairie, a Minneapolis suburb.

Ciccarelli, who lives with his wife and two daughters, was arrested Wednesday after a police officer said he saw Ciccarelli in the driveway half-naked. Officers said they took pictures of the incident.

haha, is there a specific reason why the NHL HOF has such low standards?

It's almost like if ur body can survive 8+ seasons, and you're decent, they let you in

Boo this man.

And Andreychuk is a compiler, but I still think he deserves to get in the Hall of Fame. 640 goals and 698 assists seem like a lot to me. The only players with more career points than him that aren't in the Hall of Fame, are the ones not retired yet. If I was gonna knock anyone from this Hall of Fame class it would be Kariya, but he was a point per game guy for his whole career, so that's pretty good.

Well there aren't any top line forwards available in free agency and they aren't going to trade a D man for Duchene so at least they didn't give anything up for Bonino. Word on the street here is that Johansen is going to ask for 8 million a year. He is not worth that and Fisher might be retiring this year so they need more C depth. If they sign Justin Williams to a 2 or 3 year deal, I think they might be ok.

I really figured Alzner would be itching to go back to western Canada. Are the flames and oilers cap tied?
