2019 MLB Thread

THANK YOU Dermott McHeshi

10th in WAR would make one believe "Top 10 CF"

but hey....who uses stats in baseball, amirite?

According to baseball-reference he's 14th.

Career .254 hitter
Career ended at 30 (only 11 years where he was good) so you can't do longevity
Only Top 10 MVP twice (2nd and 8th)

Sounds like a HoFer to me!

A prominent Major League Baseball agent said Friday that a "fight is brewing'' over the lack of free-agent activity in the game this offseason, and said a spring training boycott might be on the horizon if teams don't begin signing players soon. Agent Brodie Van Wagenen of CAA stopped short of using the word "collusion,'' but said the behavior of owners "feels coordinated, rightly or wrongly.''

"I would suggest that testing the will of 1,200 alpha males at the pinnacle of their profession is not a good strategy for 30 men who are bound by a much smaller fraternity,'' Van Wagenen said. "These 1,200 players have learned first-hand that battles are won through teamwork, and they understand that championships can't be achieved by individuals. They are won by a group united by a singular focus. Victory at all costs. They are willing to sweat for it; they are willing to sacrifice for it; they are willing to cry for it; and most importantly, they are willing to bleed for it.''

this agent sounds like a dude whose clients aren't getting paid when they expected it/when he told them they would and hes starting to sweat about it. Pretty obvious that next season's FA class will be one of the best ever and teams are holding onto cash right now to see what they can get by with until next offseason. But hey...go on strike...whatever. It worked out so well for the game last time

This is Ryan Zimmerman's agent. I'm sure he's told his clients multiple times "look at how much I got a guy with a bum shoulder that only hits when juiced up, Imma get you PAID!"

Besides, they aren't "testing the will" of 1,200 players they're telling a handful of guys that want too many years and too high of an AAV "no thanks, we'll wait". Good luck to the guys planning a boycott. They can call up the St Paul Saints when they're still unsigned in May.

was hoping the Braves would try and make some kind of play for Frazier. Guess they're happy with Camargo starting at 3B this season.

Evidently teams are being limited to 6 meetings at the mound total per game (coaches and players)... best move by MLB in years. Screw pitch clock-- this would save way more time and be better.

One of the biggest waste of time in a game is the constant catcher-pitcher meetings? It'll save 8-10 minutes at minimum.
