International Soccer

I completely see Travis' point, however, what I think NML means is that Brazil Spain etc dont have out and out strikers. They dont have a Van Persie or a Klose, who are almost guaranteed to score.

I agree with Travis that you dont necessarily need it, Chelsea scored the vast majority of their goals from the midfield this year, and arguably it makes an International team more dangerous if they can score from every position.

That being said; I still think Neymar is a bit a light weight and I think Brazil's only weakness is that they dont have someone like R9 anymore.

Lets go for the triple post.

It's quite possible I'm biased because I love David Silva has a City fan, but when he come on in the friendly on Saturday, Spain was attacking much more aggressively. They got both of their goals in the second half and generally seemed more direct with their attack. That was also when Cazorla was on. I think because Cazorla and Silva play in the PL and have no connection to Barca, they're much more direct in how they try to attack and pass. I think when Spain has other guys get too old/retire and Cazorla and Silva are their main attacking CMs, Spain might be more enjoyable to watch.

Claudio Taffarel is the closest I can think of.

Julio Cesar hasn't recovered since the 2010 QF against the Netherlands.

I guess I never thought of Taffarel as elite since he never went to Europe, especially at a time when Brazil was poor and had trouble keeping any players at home.

How hot are we talking? I am not taking a Londoners opinion, they are more sensitive than Kella to heat and humidity

If Villa counts as striker, then so does Neymar, which was my point.

We're having an unbearable heatwave here in london at the moment. Yesterday it was 75 degrees with at least 60% humidity. I couldn't sleep and was struggling to breath during the day.

God bless you, everyone! :england:

Nah, how are you Hayvis. It's been a few years since we talked. I need to make another "Google Earth where you lost your virginity" thread again. Your story was hilarious.

I am struggling in this blistering heat to look after my 18 month old daughter. Other than that, I'm looking forward to the World Cup, and have taught her to throw her arms in the air and cheer.

If you do, then when was the last time a country won a WC without an elite GK?

Apparently the answer is Brazil/94/Taffarel. I think if you are looking to find a keeper who won a WC at JC's level, you'd have to go back to Argentina/86/Pumpido.

Was it Edu or Beasley that did it on national tv?

I had a buddy who peed on TV in college. Not on camera, actually on a TV. He had passed out drunk on the couch in the living room during a party. Around 2am, he woke up (sort of; more like sleep walking), stumbled over to the new flat screen TV, and urinated all over it.
