SpainDo you think Spain or Brazil finish second in their group?
Spain
I'm simply accounting for the usual mysteries of the World Cup. Spain have enough points early then go on to sink to second. I put Nigeria through to the Quarterfinals, as there always seems to be one African team that goes on a rampage.I guess that could happen. I just don't see the Netherlands doing much this World Cup. Their squad is old, and beyond the attacking players, really isn't that great. If they weren't in a group with Spain and Chile, I'd still say they would go through, but I'm not sure they can beat either of those teams.
Group A: Brazil, Mexico. I want to take Croatia over Mexico here given Mexico's fairly shitty form of late, but tie goes to therunnerteam from a similarly hot, sticky climate, in this case.
Group B: Spain, Chile. Gut feeling is that the Dutch disappoint in this tournament.
Group C: Greece, Colombia. Pulling for Ivory Coast, but I don't think they'll get through.
Group D: Uruguay, Italy. England got a tough draw here. Italy comes up big in tournaments, and Uruguay is sort of on home soil.
Group E: France, Switzerland. The French won't be a dumpster fire this year. They'll do what they're supposed to.
Group F: Argentina, Bosnia-Herzegovina. This one seems pretty straight forward to me.
Group G: Germany, United States. Red, white, and blue goggles are firmly cemented to my face. I've been saying the same thing for a few months. US gets 4 points, and gets through on GD over Portugal. Here's hoping Germany opens a 40-lb box on them in game 1.
Group H: Belgium, Algeria. Gut feeling on Algeria.
Round of 16: Brazil over Chile. Spain over Mexico. Italy over Greece. Uruguay over Colombia. France over Bosnia-Herzegovina. Argentina over Switzerland. Germany over Algeria. Belgium over USA.
Quarters: Brazil over Italy. Spain over Uruguay. Germany over France. Argentina over Belgium.
Semis: Brazil over Germany. Argentina over Spain.
Final: Brazil over Argentina. (3rd place game: Germany over Spain)
Italy comes up big in tournaments
Someone find me a way to watch the WC on Ass'Corch's big screen. Here's what I have at my disposal...
Panasonic Smart TV
PS3
Laptop, but I don't think it has an HDMI out
iPhone
I can obviously stream the game on my laptop, but that's not preferred. Surely, there's a way to do this, but I can't seem to figure it out.
solid start
#WorldCup Thursday's US-Belgium friendly in Sao Paolo has been cancelled due to worries about traffic and delays for players.
Just googled and it looks like PS3 iPlayer/ITV player, doesn't have live....
