I admit, you could read that either way. I hope that your explanation is correct.

But, what if all the DA asked was whether Franklin tried to influence the investigation but none of the other details of the conversation? That statement could be taken to mean that.

Anyways, the point is that I don't trust that DA to make an informed judgment based on that quote. And I would be worried about Franklin testifying if I were Penn State. So many things could go wrong on the stand that would make Penn State look even dumber than it already does.

  • Keep throwing out amazing Hineygate buzzwords like "joebot truther." It really makes you look like quite the Dew-chugger. Would you mind defining that term for the class?
  • Why would I care about PR? All I care about, in regards to a football corch, is someone who wins football games. I don't care if he cheats to get there. Just win, baby.
  • What leads anybody to believe that PSU didn't do its' due diligence before hiring Franklin, especially after "the worst scandal in the history of all ACADEMICS?" If you believe "herka durr, dey covered up rape so anything's possible!", then cool. You cling to that opinion and don't ever let go. Shine on, you crazy diamond.
  • I have no idea what was said by the administration during the coaching search, what the vetting process looked like, whether Franklin covered up a rape or coerced a witness. However, if I'm going to break out my jump to conclusions mat, then I'm going to the conclusions that make the most logical sense. And those conclusions are not only based on logical sense, but also the comments of Deputy DA, Tom Thurman, who is the prosecutor for the Vandy rape case.

You're missing the point though. Whether Franklin had anything directly to do with the rape is meaningless. The fact that there was even a chance his name and by default Penn St. gets linked to yet another rape scandal involving the football team is appalling. You have to pass on that guy.

What was that about a culture problem in Penn State? This line really says it all, and the whole nation shakes our collective heads. I'm not sure the fans realize how bad the national perception is.

If you care for an anecdotal example, my daughter's t-ball league is based on B1G teams. PSU was ruled out because they didn't think it was appropriate for a bunch of children to wear their shirts. I found that to be ridiculous, I wanted them to ban Michigan. :thumbsup:

This is why it was moronic to label me as a "joebot truther." I don't give a crap about Joe Paterno, his legacy, or any statues.

I'm sure it drives you crazy that I don't care about the national perception. Thank God the "Success with Honor" crap is dying day by day, as more of these blue-hairs kick the bucket.

I know you want it so, so badly to be in the headlines everywhere. You and the SuperFriends here get your rocks off on it. I get it. I enjoy schadenfreude as much as anyone. But it isn't. Wake up to reality. None of the media outlets are even talking about this Vandy rape case as it relates to Penn State. It was a 2-day story that faded away.

Shoot a dozen emails to Robert Lipsyte and see if he can push for more talk about Penn State. Tell him that it's a shame that ESPN is turning a blind eye to a program full of rapists and rape enablers. I'm sure that he would agree that rape = ratings.

Nice win over UMass. With the state of the B1G this year who knows how far PSU can go. It would be a disappointment at this point if they weren't undefeated going into the OSU game in a few weeks.

Please point out where I've used a defense of any type for MAH CORCH. I just legitimately feel sorry for the Superfriends that they have waited months on end, let their popcorn get stale, all for.......this? This is what you were waiting on?

Like I've said all along, I love sports hate. I carry it by the truckloads for Klimpson and Sakerlina. If the Superfriends would just come out and say that they just hate Penn State for no rational reason, I'd have no problem at all. I would understand completely. It's when people fabricate reasons that are easily disproven that drive me batty.

MAH JETTA has been sitting in the street for 2 weeks after the auto shop gave it back to me after having it for a month.

"We've never had a car longer in this shop. VW gave us 3 different alternators and none of them worked. We spent 10 hours of labor for nothing. You can take it back."

I had to delete someone I was friends with off of Facebook and stopped talking to him in reel life because he said I wasn't reading between the lines and acting like I was stupid when it came to me saying Joe Paterno was covering up child molestation. He acted like it was some smear campaign against "Paterson" and Penn State. Kicker: he has the same last name as the person in Bruin's picture. I wonder if it's his dad.
